Latest News  -

FEB. 24TH - PLAYOFF GAME #3 - Hawks took an early lead but the determined Royals came back to tie the game at 2-2 and then to pot the final blow to the Hawks at 3:45 in the 3rd.  Royals sweep the series.  Good Luck to them in the next round of playoffs!

FEB. 21ST - PLAYOFF GAME #2 - Royals came out strong and were determined to repeat what happened on the 19th.  They were strong and the Hawks were unable to contain the Royals as they were ahead at the end of the 2nd period - 5-1.  Hawks did a gut check over the intermission and came out a completely different team.  They dominated the Royals and picked away goal by goal until running out of time to have the Royals pot an empty net goal in the last minute. Score 6-4.  That period should be enough to convince the Hawks and their fans that they are NOT down and out - they are still very much one of the most talented teams ever in the Junior B league.  Hawks should be proud and Royals should be scared.

FEB. 19TH - PLAYOFF GAME #1- Royals stun the Hawks.  It was obvious the Royals were determined not to lose again to the Hawks.  During regular season the Hawks solved the Royals 4 games straight.  Royals deserved to win on this night.

FEB. 10TH - Hawks vs Wetaskiwin Icemen - The Hawks poured on the shots but could not  solve the pesky little Hextall goalie that got under the skin of several of the player's.  Mason Fedun got the win as the Hawk's managed to squeak by.   The Hawk's usual style of play has gone south - hopefully it will return in the Playoff's.

FEB. 7TH - The Hawks played like they were still stunned from Friday's pummelling at the hands of the Chiefs.  The Riggers put together a fine effort but failed to pull out the win account of a stellar performance by the Hawk's goalie Sean Reilly. Time to reflect on just what it is the Hawk's want to accomplish and who is on board for the long run.

FEB. 5TH - The Hawks looked more like Christmas turkey's on Friday night.  The Beaumont Chiefs looked strong and well coached as they plucked 2 points and a league banner from the Hawks.  The Hawks will have to dig down to continue on with the playoffs.  Not their best hockey when they need it the most.

JAN. 31ST - The Hawks fall to the Jets.  Good game but unlike the evening events it failed to evoke any spirit in the team.  Maybe Sunday afternoon should be spent in church.  The Morinville Goalie answered all their prayers.

JAN. 29TH - Hawks vs the Royals - always entertaining.  Again the Royals put up a valiant fight but in the long haul the Hawks were just a little bit better - enough to pull ahead in the third.  Hawks debuted their third jersey's to mixed reviews.

JAN. 24TH - Beaumont Chiefs vs the Hawks - always a top notch battle.  A little interference from the referee against both teams changed the game somewhat.

JAN. 20TH - No words can describe....

JAN. 17TH - The drama continues as the Hawks visited the Confederation arena to battle another worthy rival.  The last stretch continues to be difficult as they are matched up with good teams that want nothing more than to beat the Hawks who have remained undefeated in over two months.  This time the captain Dan McPherson put in the shoot out goal to end the drama.  Hawks win again.

JAN 15TH - Another nail biter as teams show up with their best performances trying to beat the high soaring Hawks.  Only a few points between the top teams battling for the league title.  In the end the Hawks were victorious against the Stony Plain Flyers only after a great pass by McPherson and fantastic shot by defensemen Court Nelson.  It was a hard game to lose - the Flyers gave all they had and nearly knocked off the leading team.

JAN. 8TH - A much improved Spruce Grove team meant business and promptly put the Hawks behind.  They battled back and it became a see-saw battle with the officials wanting part of the action as well.  Just in the nick of time (4 seconds) left THE SKRAKER (Andy Skoreyko) finished the Regals off.  A hard one to lose - a great game to watch.

JAN. 6TH - A much anticipated game against the West Division leaders the Beverly Warriors and the Fort Sask Hawks leading the East Division.  Apparently it was an important game to both teams as they both looked very tentative with no one wanting to make that one mistake that would turn out to be the game changer.  Neither team did make that mistake and it ended in a tie.  With OT deciding nothing it came down to a shoot out in which our secret weapon Cody Pewar buried the puck and won the game.

JAN. 3RD -  The new year started off well with a win over the Wetaskiwin Icemen.

DEC. 18TH - The Edmonton Wild visited the Jubilee Arena on the last game before the Christmas break.  The Hawk's were too much to handle for the Wild and they returned home empty handed.  No gifts handed out by the Hawk's this month.

DEC. 16TH - Traveled to Leduc for a middle of the week boring game.  Both teams were thinking more about Christmas than this game - including the goalie who forgot his skates.  Hawk's goalie Shawn Reilly returned to the lineup and held off the uninspired Riggers.

DEC. 13TH - Unlucky day for the Strathcona Bruins.  The Hawk's flew the coop easily with the 2 points.  While a few players for the Bruin's tried to leave a message the Hawk's were quite receptive and even the Hawk's goaltender Mason Fedun joined in.  Last meeting of the season - Hawk's win this series as well.

DEC. 11TH - Sherwood Park Knights - last meeting of the regular season - were playing great had the game in control when they decided it would be better to hurt the Hawk's than to take 2 points.  Penalty after stupid penalty the undisciplined Knights allowed the Hawk's back into the game and the Hawk's capitalized.  This game had everything  in it - intense emotion, concussions, ambulance attendants, irate parents, fights, goals,  and overtime. This extreme rivalry ended in a shootout.  In the end the Hawk's win the game and the series.

DEC. 9TH - Strathcona Bruins arrived and put together a good first and then folded in the 2nd and 3rd.  Got testy and ended up bloodied and beat up courtesy of the Hawk's.

NOV. 27TH - Sherwood Park Knights again... another repeat of the last game except this time it was at home.  Sherwood Park went home sore losers again.

NOV. 24TH - Beaumont Chiefs came to town and a great hockey game was played until liberties were taken on the first line.  The officials missed enough to cause the teams to take matters into their own hands and what was a great game got out of hand.   Nevertheless both teams battled for a tie, OT and then a shoot out.  Maybe some fresh new danglers might be more effective next shootout game.

NOV. 20TH - The Sherwood Park Knights could not muster up enough to get more than 2 past Goaltender Darren Douglas while at the other end the Knight's goal-tender was quite busy with the Hawk's scoring 7.  The Hawk's controlled the game throughout. (Click to enlarge pictures)

NOV. 13/18TH - Royals and Leduc fell prey to the Hawk's with a 8-4 decision over the Royals and a 6-1 decision over the Rigger's.  Hawk's continue to find victims at a steady pace.

NOV. 8 - Strathcona Bruins - a burly bunch taking liberties with our best players - attempted to run over the Hawk's but in the end the Hawk's took flight and sealed the victory in the third.   (Click to enlarge pictures)(more on Gallery 2)

NOV. 7 - Wetaskiwin arrived at the JRC without a win and The Hawk's rolled over the team with relative ease - giving Mason Fedun his first shut out this year.  He even faced a penalty shot and came up big for the team.  (Click to enlarge pictures)(more on Gallery 2)

NOV. 1 - The 9 game winning streak came to a screeching halt in an OT shootout - too many treats were had by the Hawk's at the Halloween Dance.  The success of the Halloween Dance could well be worth 2 points but Monday's practice will tell the tale of whether it was worth coming to the rink in less than game shape. (Click to enlarge pictures)

OCT. 30 - The Hawk's visited Stony Plain on Friday night and ruled.  The first period the Flyer's tried to play hockey with the Hawk's which did not work for them.  Second period the Flyer's just tried to goon it up and that also did not work.  In the end the Flyer's laid an egg as Darren Douglas recorded his second consecutive shut out this month.  The Hawk's ended October with a perfect record and are on a 9 game winning streak. (Click to enlarge pictures)

OCT. 27 - The Hawk's vs Morinville turned out to be an uneventful affair in which the Hawk's played just enough to win.  Darren Douglas perfect with his first shut-out of the season. (Click to enlarge pictures)

OCT. 23 - The Hawk's had a no trouble with the league leading Beaumont Chief's who had several missing players.  The Hawk's quickly outshot & out worked the Chief's.  Later in the game the Chief's tried to send some kind of message but whatever it was remained undelivered.  (Click to enlarge pictures)

OCT. 18 - The Hawk's were rather sluggish tonight and barely pulled out a win in overtime against a determined Edmonton Wild team.  Coaches will be hoping for a much better start on the 23rd against Beaumont. (Click to enlarge pictures)

OCT. 16 - The Hawk's were victorious again on Friday night after having a spirited affair against a chippy Leduc Rigger's team.  Unfinished business from last year was on the mind of some of the Hawk's.  2 be continued I'm sure ...  (Click to enlarge pictures) -

OCT. 9 - The Hawk's encountered a burly Bruin or two in their bout with the Strathcona team.  The Bruin's surprised a few fans with their much improved play.  The Hawk's had to step it up in the third to seal the win away.

OCT. 1 - Fans enjoyed watching the Hometown Hawk's wrestle 2 points away from the Edmonton Red Wings on Friday October 1st.
