Hawk's Tradition
This year the 2011 Hawks reload with a number of young players and the core of
the previous years Hawks retire to leave all but a few overages to lead the
team. It will be a different look and different dressing room - and a
different coach. Look for a new style of Hawk and maybe the start of
a new Hawk Tradition.
In the 2008-2009 regular
season the Fort Saskatchewan Pyramid Corporation Hawks registered an impressive
30 wins 5 losses and 3 OT losses. The Hawks found themselves atop the
Capital Junior Hockey League standings capturing the regular season title, a
birth in the Capital Junior Hockey League final and a trip to the Alberta
Provincial Junior B Hockey Championship.
While winning more regular season
games in the 2010 season than the previous the Hawk's failed to make it past the
2nd round of playoffs.
The Hawks are proud to be one of the original founders of the Captial Junior
Hockey League. In 1972 the league was established because many excellent
hockey players were leaving home to play junior hockey elsewhere, only to have
their education and family life suffer. The Fort Saskatchewan Hawks
provide a positive environment that stresses not only development as a player
but also importance of career and education. The Hawks program offers a
competitive brand of junior hockey, allowing players to stay close to home,
continue their education and pursue their careers.
